Sports

At Kenmore South State School all children have the opportunity to play various levels of sport. Only pupils of upper year’s levels are selected for inter-school sport. These are explained in notices and parent consent must be obtained.

Inter-school competition in softball, tee ball, baseball, netball, tennis, touch, Australian rules, soccer and rugby league football is arranged, depending on the availability of coaching and sufficient competing schools.

Children in Years 5 to 6 who are not involved in inter-school competition are offered a wide variety of sports or other activities.

Various skills are practised and many modified games are played. Students in Years 1 to 4 develop sporting skills from class activities with the physical education teacher or their regular class teacher. Emphasis is on participation, enjoyment and physical skill development.

At various times of the year, inter-house competition is conducted with a swimming carnival, athletics sports day, cross country sports day and ball games carnival. Children aged 9 years and above may be selected from these carnivals to compete at district and regional levels.

Our Houses are Kama (blue), Keda (red) and Kutha (yellow). Children will be allocated to a house on enrolment.

Regular weekly physical education classes are conducted by our physical education teacher. This is an important part of the school curriculum. Should any children suffer from conditions requiring special consideration or exclusion, notification is important on enrolment.
