Principal's News

Welcome back to Term Two. I am sure that
you all enjoyed your Easter break with your
families. As we begin our new term, we look
forward to what can be achieved.
This term we are encouraging our students
to set personal goals for their learning, as
well as goals for Literacy and Numeracy. It
would be great if you could talk with your
children about what they intend to work on during Term Two.
Students may need to be challenged to commit to nightly reading and homework plans. Other students may have identified an aspect of their learning that they would like to improve. This might include concentrating in the classroom,
asking more questions or following up learning at home.
It may be a good idea to talk with your child’s teacher about their learning goals for the term.
Parents play an important role in supporting successful learning for students and as partners in your child’s education I would encourage you to take an interest in the work that you child is
doing at school and communicate on a regular basis with your child’s teacher.
Our teachers will be emailing weekly the events and activities occurring in their classroom, and I know our teachers are very happy for you to contact them via email or to come and see them to discuss your child. Together we can ensure that your child is getting the very best education at our school.
Staff Changes
Welcome to Mrs Kim Matthews, our new teacher to Prep PGP and to Miss Nicole Layt who is replacing Kyle Lobo in 5KL for Term Two. We are pleased to have Kim and Nicole as part of
our teaching team.
ANZAC School Ceremony
On Monday our staff, students and community members took time to commemorate and remember our service people. Our school leaders led our school beautifully and many thanks to
Captain Emily Douglas for her inspiring and thought provoking words. The voices of our choir students sang like angels. We are very grateful to all parents for their kind donations of flowers
to create the amazing class wreaths. As a school community we should feel very proud knowing that our students are learning about and engaging with the ANZAC spirit and its values across our school and into the wider community.
Preparations for NAPLAN are well underway in Year 3 and Year 5 classrooms. We know that focusing on quality learning outcomes every day is the best preparation students can have
for NAPLAN. NAPLAN tests for Years 3 and 5 will take place on Tuesday 9th, Wednesday 10th and Thursday 11th of May. Our students will be prepared with focus and diligence. Please feel free to contact our office should you require any additional information about NAPLAN.
